Our Mission
Chess for Learning is dedicated to providing free chess classes to disadvantaged children, giving them the opportunity to discover a new passion and develop valuable skills.
We believe that learning chess offers significant benefits for children throughout their academic journey:
- Critical Thinking & Strategy: Chess enhances problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to predict outcomes.
- Patience & Focus: The game requires concentration and calculated decision-making, helping children improve their focus and patience in a fun, game-based environment.
- Inclusivity & Fun: Our program is open to children of all skill levels, ensuring an inclusive learning experience. Lessons will be engaging, featuring interactive games, puzzles, and mini-tournaments to make learning enjoyable.
Meet the Team
Sacha Bidermann – Founder
Sacha founded Chess for Learning with a passion for sharing the game with others. At 11 years old, he won the South Florida Chess Championship. Though he later prioritized academics over competitive chess, he continues to play regularly and holds a current ELO rating of 1850.
